Veterans Day 2006

On this Veterans Day, all residents of Winchester are encouraged to pause and thank the many men and women who have served our country in the armed forces. Winchester will honor its veterans on Friday, November 10, by closing Town offices and facilities (the Transfer Station will remain open on Friday and close on Saturday). On Veterans Day, November 11, a more formal parade and recognition ceremonies will take place beginning at 10:00 AM at Skillings Road and concluding at the O’Connell Veterans Memorial at Town Hall.

During this time of war, honoring the sacrifices of our veterans is even more important. Whether one favors the military conflict in Iraq or not, the young men and women who have put their lives on hold and serve our country honorably deserve our thanks and prayers.
