Race- The Power of an Illusion

I am pleased to be participating in a program sponsored by the Winchester Multicultural Network entitled Race and Place. Using the PBS documentary of Race, the Power of an Illusion, the program is a dialogue among members of the Winchester community on the historical relationship between race, place and economic prosperity. It is hoped that the program will generate specific action steps for our community.

The first session, effectively facilitated by Angela Guidice, explored the insignificant biological differences among peoples of the world.

Thanks to the Network as well as the Winchester Public Library and the Fair Housing Center of Greater Boston for their sponsorship of this important program.

Congratulations to the Boys Wrestling Team for their undefeated season and state championship. The team beat Wayland for their 61st consecutive win without a loss to secure their second straight state championship. The Town is extremely proud of Coach Larry Trembley and all of the members of WHS’ team for their outstanding season under difficult circumstances.

Congratulations also go out to Winchester’s Boys and Girls hockey teams and to the Boys basketball team for making this year state tournament.
